Fabulous food. Comfy ambience. Flexible with requests like when we ask to sit in a quiet area or when we ask for substitutions b/c we're dairy-free and gluten-free. Servers and staff are always friendly, gracious, and professional!

Crazy delicious food. Great atmosphere...all staff attentive. Tomosso was very well spoken when I had a question as to where my server was. Again can't say enough about the food. Steak was ordered med rare and came perfect. I don't care for asparagus and the server substituted for a green salad. The bread was super too. Can't wait to go again.

Super place to meet and chat with coworkers. Service is typically above par. The bill was well within reason for the quality. This place has many good reviews for a reason.

One of my favorite bistros in Fresno. If you aren't afraid of a little higher priced food then you are ready for that higher end food. Best pecan chicken I've ever had. As well as scallops and French dips and so forth.

Love the atmosphere, service and food!

Food was good, although my salmon was not fully cooked - another minute on the stove would not be bad. Chocolate molten cake with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and a few berries was my favorite - rich in flavor, moderately sweet, a little crisp on the outside and deliciously liquid on the inside. Service was outstanding. Our waitress was down to earth and friendly, something that is often rare in fancy restaurants where they feel they have to be stuck up to create an appropriate atmosphere.

Nice Experience! Dinner started with bread and Olive oil and balsamic. Amuse Bouche with cream cheese, balsamic, tomato, basil. Nice bite. We had the Kung Pao Cauliflower which was very good. We split the yummy crab bisque, which I would say was the highlight of my meal! The New York was o.k., honestly not even a roll of the eyes and an 'mmmmm sooo good'. Just o.k. the potatoes were just potatoes and I don't believe they were dressed with salt or butter, however they were good. I will say, our server Chelsea made the evening. She was nice, attentive, easy going and fun. The ambience was great and overall the food was pretty good, but it was a nice evening. For the price would we give back? Probably not.

I googled "Sweet Potato Fries near me" and I was led here! What a gem! Great service. This is a very nice bistro with high quality food & specials. The art and decor is beautiful. A high end menu with personable service. They care about their patrons. And yes...the sweet potato fries w/ jalapeno aioli sauce was amazing!!!

Service is always super even when they have a full house. Certainly worth going back to. This place has a cool feel to it. Atmosphere is similar to a cafe in San Jose I loved.

Great place. Staff is top notch, food is always great and their food specials are always delicious. They also have a robust wine list, though you can bring your own bottle (with a corking fee). Your cant go wrong here, I fully recommend.

A little slow service but nice people

Nice restaurant, good food, good service and nice atmosphere. Pricing is about right for what you get. Only complaint was we were charged $5.00 to split a salad. We said we were going to share the salad, our waitress asked if we wanted it split, and we said yes, no mention was made of the charge. Can't remember being charged to split a salad in a restaurant of this quality; especially since our bill was around $120 before taxes for the two of us, which included $68.00 worth of wine.

Took 45 minutes for our server to take our orders, currently 45 minutes with no food yet. This is bogus. I won't be returning. Terrible service!

Great service and great food

First time here and I was very impressed. The decor was amazing, I love the art on the walls. The wine selection was phenomenal. Food was amazing, I had the pork shank and was melt in your mouth tender. My wife had the halibut and loved it. You have to get the trio fries because you just can't have one of the choices. Our waitress was great, there when you needed her and made recommendations when my wife was unsure what to get. I will definitely go back soon.

High-class, but relaxed setting. Charming interior art & decor. Clear focus on hospitality. My wife and I came for our anniversary and everybody was so nice and the service was super fast. The red sea crab risotto was especially good!

Not feeling the peanuts served with my calamari. The 🐎 radish was a little weak. The server was awesome. Just over all felt food had no flavor. For the price it should have been better.

I had the turkey avocado sandwich and it was pretty good. I really liked the bread but i wasn't a fan of how they cut up the meat, it was falling out every time i took a bite.My husband had the Chinese chicken salad and i tried a bite. I wasnt a fan of the dressing myself. He liked it okay but said he probably wouldn't order it again. Prices are a bit high. Not horrible though.

This is my favorite place in fresno to get steak. Their filet and potatoes are amazing

I spent new years and my birthday here. You must order the trio of fries. Everything I've ever eaten here was delicious.

The first visit to Max's was with a group of colleagues for a Christmas dinner. The decor of the restaurant is very warm and welcoming with reds and dark brown colors. While the space is quite large, it is split into smaller areas and allows decent privacy. The entrees were decent, but you should come here for the sweet potato fries. The fries are very light and are reminiscent of tempura. The service and ambiance was very pleasant and there is plenty of parking.

My daughter bought me 2 gift certificates from Max's about 8 years ago, knowing it was my favorite restaurant in Fresno at that time. I used one pretty quickly, but I waited a few years to use the other, understanding that it would still be good because there was no exipration date. When I tried to pay for lunch with a friend with that certificate - just as I had done with the other one - I was told they wouldn't accept it, that I would need to come back with a larger party for dinner sometimr and they would give me a discount for its value. I haven't been back since and haven't missed it at all because there are are many other wonderful restaurants in Fresno that wouldn't treat a customer like that. It seems to me they were trying to get around the law that protects gift card and gift certificate values.

One of the best locally owner restaurants. Top notch service, we got bread with olive oil And a cucumber/cream bit as we sat down. You have to try the sweet potatoe fries (or better yet, get the 3 cups of different fries as an appetizer). The beet and goat cheese salad is wonderful as well. They have a petite plate dinner menu Monday thru Thursday. The Mediterranean chicken with couscous was good. Best part was the blueberry drink better than the cucumber gimmlet.

Great selection of cheeses 🧀 and spreads . One word DELECTABLE.

First time here. What a wonderful place to dine. My husband and I enjoyed everything about this place. The Ambience, fast friendly service, and the food was delicious. We will definitely be going back soon.

Love this place.. Have never been disappointed. The Sweet Potato Fries are a MUST HAVE to start the meal off. There a staple. Food is cooked perfectly. The wait staff is friendly and energetic. Great place to take friends and family to.

We visited Fresno for one night and found Max's Bistro online. The beet salad, scallops were superb! We enjoyed its signature cocktails. If you come to Fresno you MUST eat here.
